Coach Jordan

My new perspective is, this is my brain's language and way of giving me biofeedback. Sometimes I just say, "thanks for the feedback but I got this.”

Recovery Stories

Just six months ago, I was lost in pain. I was living in fear. I was afraid to wear certain shoes and afraid to drive my wife's car because I thought it would exacerbate the pain. I was constantly afraid to move because I thought I might hurt myself. It was no way to live.

Brain-based treatment approaches are the evidence-based recommendation for primary pain conditions

Breakthroughs in pain science have led to a whole new way of understanding and treating chronic pain. A brain-based treatment approach has been clinically proven to be highly effective in treating primary pain conditions.

  • While all pain, ultimately, is mediated by the brain, primary pain is pain that is out of proportion to medical findings. This is a very common condition. In the newest medical codes (ICD-11), many chronic pain conditions have been reclassified as a type of primary pain.

  • Because in primary chronic pain conditions the pain signaling system is over-firing, a brain-based approach that addresses cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns allows us to train our brain to change our experience of pain, and in many cases, reverse it completely.

Our approach

The Lin approach is clinically proven to help people recover from chronic pain.

The core pillars of our program include:

1. Understanding pain and recovery

Reducing pain starts with pain neuroscience education and self-awareness.

2. Shifting cognitive and behavioral patterns

Learn to respond differently to pain through somatic tracking techniques, tools for addressing pain flare-ups, and shifting your avoidance behaviors.

3. Addressing pain triggers

Learn to regulate your nervous system as well as emotions, stress, and thought patterns to promote healing.

4. Replacing pain with the good life

Cultivate a positive orientation, build resilience, and implement tools for self-care.

5. Empowering people

Make informed and judicious use of medication, imaging, and interventional approaches to pain management.

Note:

While we work with many patients taking medications for their pain, Lin Health does not prescribe controlled substances, including opioids.

Real people, real relief

What’s the science behind Lin’s approach?

Lin treats chronic pain using a brain-based approach. We draw upon psychology, neuroscience, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT™), Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

The brain-based approach is like a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to pain management. It tackles pain from different angles, including physical, psychological, and emotional aspects. By using scientific knowledge about the connection between the brain and physical pain signals, the approach aims to change these signals over time. Basically, it's like training your brain to think differently about pain, and it can help reverse the cycle of pain.

When you experience chronic pain, it's not just a physical problem. The biopsychosocial approach understands that chronic pain involves a complicated interplay between your brain, nervous system, and body. Our approach educates people with chronic pain about patterns and habits that could be making their pain worse, and teaches them new patterns and habits that can help break the cycle of pain.

It has helped millions of people alleviate their physical pain, and it could be the key to finding relief from yours.
