After 45 Years of Chronic Pain, How One Lin Health Patient is “Getting Back to Life”
Patient Info:
Sex: Female, 70+ years old
Diagnosis: Psoriatic arthritis, Low back pain, Hand/wrist pain
Prior to Lin Health: She reports chronic back pain since 1978 following a work-related injury. She restricted standing to less than 10 minutes at a time and used a four-wheeled walker outside the home to allow for rest as needed.
Before Lin Health, the patient tried: Spinal injections
Engagement with Lin Health:
2 months in the program
9 virtual sessions attended
Patient Outcomes:
The patient has been highly engaged in Lin Health’s program and expresses appreciation for both the Care Kits and virtual coaching sessions. The Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) helped her understand her pain as neuroplastic. She applies tools that help her reframe her thoughts and gradually challenges herself to do more. The information on predictive coding was particularly meaningful to her (predictive coding is a brain process that triggers pain when it expects harm, even if no real danger exists), which helps patients understand the role the brain can play in perpetuating and amplifying their chronic pain and symptoms.
The Lin Health program has led to improvements shown both through validated measures and qualitative feedback:

She no longer uses her walker when attending her granddaughter’s cheer events and was able to mop the floor while standing rather than from a seated position.
Recently, she assisted her husband with cleaning the garage for an afternoon, which she described as a rewarding accomplishment. She reports feeling as though she is “getting back to life.”
According to her Lin Health Pain Recovery Coach, she demonstrates measurable progress each week and expresses enthusiasm for her continued improvement.
Patient Comments:
“I am more aware of my pain and how to relax and ease the pain at times. I never looked at the brain and how to reprogram the brain with pain signals. The brain is an amazing organ.”
